What we know about La Scala

Skoda had already invested the compact sedan segment with the Rapid Spaceback. Her replacement becomes "Scala" ("ladder", in Latin). With a length of 4.36 m, the Scala is halfway between a Volkswagen Golf measuring 4.26 m, and a Golf SW which extends over 4.57 m.

Importantly, the Czech compact is the first model to use the Volkswagen Group's modular MQB A0 platform, which the Golf will only benefit from in its next generation.

Remember that under the hood, the Scala will give the choice between five engines. Three petrol 1.0 TSI 95 hp, 1.0 TSI 115 hp and 1.5 TSI 150 hp. The latter two can be combined with the optional DSG7 gearbox (6-speed manual gearbox), while the 1.0 TSI 95 will require a 5-speed gearbox.

Only one diesel engine is currently planned, it is the 1.6 TDI 115, also available with the optional DSG7 box. Finally, the 5th and last block of the Scala range, the 1.0 G-TEC of 90 hp, will fuel for its part natural gas (NGV), and gas once the empty gas tank. This time, only a 6-speed gearbox will be available.
